Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy Announces Partnership with Absolute Body Balance

Fall AM 25 graduation celebrated in outdoor party!

After a wonderful year of learning, growth, and hard work, the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy proudly celebrated the graduation of 19 students. Each graduate walked the stage to receive their well-deserved diplomas and certificates, marking the completion of CIMT’s rigorous massage therapy program.

The ceremony brought together students, staff, family, and friends for a truly memorable celebration. Despite the gloomy weather, our community gathered outdoors to honor this major achievement, showing incredible support for the graduates and their journey.

We couldn’t be prouder of our students for their dedication and perseverance. Completing massage therapy school is no small feat, and their commitment has prepared them to enter the professional world as confident, skilled, and compassionate massage therapists.

Graduation is always a bittersweet moment at CIMT—saying goodbye to our students is never easy, but it’s rewarding to see them move forward into their careers. We know they will go on to make a positive impact in the massage therapy field and in the lives of their clients.

Congratulations to the CIMT Class of 2025!

CIMT Celebrates it’s 40th Year Anniversary with a 5K

Colorado Springs, CO — The Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy (CIMT), longest-standing massage therapy school in Colorado, is celebrating 40 years of excellence in medical-based massage therapy accredited education.

To honor this milestone, CIMT is hosting a 5K Run on August 16th at 9AM to 1PM. With an emphasis on sports massage in its curriculum, the 5K offers students an opportunity to practice their skills while fostering community wellness. The event will feature a community run, local vendors, food, and remarks from CIMT’s three previous owners as they revisit the rich history of CIMT.

“It’s an honor to celebrate four decades of education and community impact,” said Andreas Indicatti Mariani, Department Head of Admissions and Marketing. “This event will reflect the commitment to quality massage therapy education and community wellness.”

Founded in 1985 by Togi Kinnaman, the vision of creating skill providers in the health care community through the means of massage therapy was at the center of CIMT mission. In 1997, The International Academy of Neuromuscular Therapies integrated their nationally recognized certificate program strengthening CIMTs core curriculum. In 2011, CIMT achieved the rigorous Commission of Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA).

Today, CIMT is the leading massage therapy training in the Rocky Mountain region, attracting students from all over Colorado and neighboring states. Our 650 Hour Program keeps tradition of medical-based massage therapy harnessed through the precise work of Nikki Alvaran, Education Director, and newly promoted Director, Nehir Mullen.

Student Spotlight

Meet Courtney Martin!

In 2021, Courtney faced significant health challenges that led her to pivot from pursuing a nursing career to becoming a massage therapist. She began her journey in the field as a front desk receptionist at Unlimited Bodywork , where she developed a deep appreciation for the medical benefits of massage therapy—without the intense demands of nursing. Witnessing the health benefits of massage firsthand.

When it came time to choose a school, Courtney selected the CIMT due to its glowing reviews from alumni and clients. An added bonus was CIMT’s ability to accept her Veterans Benefits, a crucial factor in her decision.

“There’s too much to love,” Courtney shared when asked about her experience at CIMT. She described the work as challenging but incredibly rewarding and praised her classmates and instructors for creating a supportive and enriching environment. “It’s the most stressful, relaxing school experience,” she quipped.

Jill Wolf, one of her instructors, may not know it yet, but her and Courtney will become best friends after graduation!

After CIMT, Courtney plans on working at Unlimited Bodywork as well as owning her own business, to help the people she wants to help.

Joel Kort Massage Chair PTSD Fund

September is Suicide Prevention Month

With heavy hearts, we honor our past student, Joel Kort, who was part of our Fall AM 2015 class.

Joel, a veteran who faced the challenges of PTSD after being deployed multiple times. Because of it, Joel regularly got massages and found solace in supporting techniques like acupuncture, meditation and Reiki.

Inspired by his experience with the healing affects of massage therapy, Joel sought out to share “his healing hands”, as his friends often told him he had.

Through all of his aspirations Joel struggled in his personal life and left us in 2015.

To honor his memory, CIMT is committed to keep Joel’s memory and spirits alive. We deeply appreciate his family for the generous donation the massage chair in the Pikes Peak Quiet Room.

Joel’s memory continues to live on through the love of those who knew him and through our students and staff here at the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy.
